Accomplishments in Our Community
To date, Art as a Catalyst, The Gary Rosenthal Collection, and The Gary Rosenthal Collection Foundation have awarded over $100,000 in grants for arts enrichment programs.
In addition, The Gary Rosenthal Collection has used art as a catalyst in non-traditional ways to get others involved, raise awareness, and enrich our community.
We've been proud sponsors of programs like:
- The World's Biggest Matzo Ball to Feed the Hungry, 1998, Edmund Burke School: Mel Krupin and DC Central Kitchen collaborated to make a one-hundred pound matzo ball in a Guinness World Record attempt.
- Bernard Janney/Ann Beer Washington Monument Clock, 1999: Students at local elementary schools helped create a 7-foot-tall gallery-quality clock for an auction fund-raiser. $10,000 was raised through a sale to an anonymous donor.
- Bank for a Reason, 2003: Mid-Atlantic region college fraternities competed to create a bank representing social action in this unique fundraising event.
